MALTESE PUPPY UPDATE!
The entire staff of PetLife has worked, and prayed and fought the good fight… To save this tiny sweet girl!
This tiny little Maltese has survived being born too small with a failure to thrive… She has fought and battled serious upper respiratory infection, and we really thought there was no way she could ever survive the Paro Virus, going into the worst part of that virus weighing in at approx only 1.4 lbs! The day those results were read, we all thought it was over for our brave little fighter!
Staff took her home every night! A special shout out to one of our long-time tech’s, Chris Trahan, who even came in on his day off at closing time to pick up little bo-peep (as he and his gal, Cat named her), so she never had to stay over night alone, during the worst of her issues! Chris, is the bomb!
She had at least 1.5 months of round-the-clock, every two-hour feedings, IV’s in nearly every tiny vein, until they were all too blown to take any more. While battling her health issues, syringe & tube feeding, trying to maintain her blood glucose levels… To give her the chance to fight off the illnesses that ravaged her tiny body.
And then…. Finally, she was eating again! One day, at her 2am feeding she jumped up and literally rushed to her isolation cage door, wagging her tail! Quickly we prepared her first bowl of food in over a month, and she gobbled it down as if to say “hey, why haven’t you fed me in all this time, I’m hungry?”
Well, our girl is alive and well, finally back up to nearly 1 lb and gaining!! She lost much of her pretty white coat, every leg shaved for her IV, she is a bit of a wreck but ohhhh how sweet!! We just know she will be quite the looker!! And…. She is finally ready for adoption!
Anyone interested in adopting this tiny little fighter, please call PetLife at 561-790-6464. Adoptive family will be chosen by best able to care for this little miracle, not first come first basis.
No small children in house, no large dogs. Stay at home family or someone able to take her to work. She cannot be alone more than 2-3 hours still until she fully gets her strength back.
It’s all coming up roses for Little-Bo-Peep!
